about
A song i wrote a long time ago (like two decades), other than the lyrics and vocals, which were written more recently. Getting it off my chest finally.
The basic theme is a journey through time, enacting your own story which is eternally burned into the record of existence and you can never undo.
ππ»πΎπΆπ«π΅π²π·π° π‘πΈπͺπ has never before been released, and is in a more straightforward "rock n' roll" style than typical for me. The idea is a road which is crumbling behind you with every step. It appropriately features lead guitar by the fellow who originally taught me to play guitar, Dave Irmo.
The specific meanings are personal to each listener. What impressions do they evoke in you?
lyrics
Strolling on down the road
I have found my destination to be
The place where i am
Many miles on
I can find my comfort
In this mystery
Further down the road
I have found a sweet little secret
Hidden in the passage
And now i feel
Eventual ending
Beckoning
Time across time
Age before age
The soul's encrypted
Across every page
Spark of perception keeps
Travelling on
Can't outrun it
Crumble, gone
Don't let it catch you
Don't let it slip you up
The ground is crumblin'
With every step now
Keep up the pace, don't slip
Don't trip and tumble down
Just keep on running or the earth might take you
Time across time
Age before age
The soul's encrypted
Across every stage
Spark of perception
Journeying on
Can't outrun it
Crumble, gone
Don't let it catch you
Don't let it slip you up
The ground is crumblin'
With every step
Keep up your face, don't flip
Don't trip and fumble
Just keep on pushin' or the road might break you
Time before time
Age across age
The soul has etched its mark
Across every page
No end in sight
An endless flow
Can't escape the path of
The Crumbling Road
Don't let it slip you down
Don't let it catch you
The ground is crumblin'
With every step now
Keep up the pace , don't slip
Don't trip and tumble now
Just keep on running
